Description	:	Ronald Lee "Ron" Brehm, 78, died Thursday, July 13, 2017 at his residence following a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Shellsburg with Rev. Mark Leckband officiating. Interment will be held at Spencer Grove Cemetery near Urbana. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6h St. in Vinton from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday. Ronald was born at home in Garrison on December 19, 1938 to Louis and Elsie (Strellner) Brehm and his family later moved to Shellsburg when he was in second grade. He graduated from the Shellsburg High School in 1957. Ron was a contractor for over fifty years as owner of Brehm Construction. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church which he actually helped build in 1946 carrying the bricks as a young boy. He had served as an Elder of his congregation. He was a volunteer Firefighter for twenty-five years serving as Captain, Deputy Chief and then Chief of the CBS Shellsburg Fire Department. Ron was a member of the Shellsburg Lions Club and served on the town council. He volunteered for everything needed in Shellsburg. He loved working with his hands in construction and woodworking. He also loved collecting horses, John Deere Toy Tractors and making rocking horses. Ron married Anna Marie Deal, November 20, 1960 in Atkins and they later divorced. He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Spencer) Brehm who he married January 27 1989 at Zion Lutheran Church in Shellsburg and resided at his family farm. He is survived by his children, Rodney Brehm, Richard (Nichole) Brehm and Renee (Daniel) Williams and step children Melissa (Andrew) Zinser, Ron (Rhonda) Grimm, and Melinda Wetherell; his grandchildren, Ashley Brehm, Ryan (Natalia) Brehm, Brianna Williams, Ariel Williams, Phoenix Brehm, Wyatt Brehm, Levi (Ashley) Zinser, Aaron (Stephanie) French, Micah Jackson, Sulea Shelton, Johnathan (Carla) Shelton and Sara Shelton; and his great grandchildren, Cole Brehm, Daniel Zinser, George Zinser, Arianna Price, Kinsey French, Noah French, Tailor Varner, Paden Shelton, Jaydynn Baumart, Jordynn Baumart, Aydynn Shelton, and Greysynn Shelton.; his sister, Lola Maye (Al) Krug; nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
