C.E. Lookingbill of Nevada in charge. Burial was in the family lot in the Nevada cemetery. Ronald Ray Robertson, so of Mr. and Mrs. James Robertson, was born at Ames, June 30, 1913; died at Allen Memorial hospital in Waterloo, Aug 17, 1936, at the age of 23 years, 1 month, 18 days. He spent his childhood and early youth at his parents' farm near Ames. In 1927 he moved with his parents to Hollandale, Minn., where they lived four years. Since then he lived with his mother and sister while employed at John Deere factory. He received his education in the schools at Shipley and at Hollandale, Minn. He took up aviation in the spring of 1935 fulfilling a life long ambition. Ronald was not affiliated with any church, but by living the golden rule, he acquired a host of friends. His father and one sister preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his loss, his mother, two brothers and two sisters. The brothers are John of Laurens, Ia., and Jay of Waterloo, Ia., and the sisters are Mrs. James Day of Nevada, Mrs. Howard Fines of Waterloo, Ia. and his fiance Muriel Hanson of Clarks Grove, Minn. Newspaper Article: Blame Faulty Wing Structure for Fatal Crash Faulty structure of a wing of the airplane which carried Ronald Robertson, 23, pilot, and Elnora Morgan 19, passenger to their death when the place crashed near Waterloo on Sunday evening, was blamed today for the fatal accident, according to announcement of the Iowa Aeronautics commission. Funeral services for Robertson, son of the late J. E Robertson and wife, once residents of west of Ship;ey, were held this afternoon at the Shipley U.B. church, with Rev. C.E. Lookinbill in charges. Burial was in teh Nevada Cemetery. The Robertson family lived for a number of years on a farm west of Shipley, but later moved to Hollandale, Minn., where the father died. Mrs. Robertson with Ronald and other members of the family had been living at Waterloo for the past few years and the son Ronald, long interested in mechanics, has been working in aviation as a pilot student and mechanic for the past two years.
