Ronnie passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Richardson, TX. Ronnie was born June 3, 1947, at Norfolk, Nebraska, to Emil and Bernitha (Hasenkamp) Gemelke. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Pilger, Nebraska. He attended Stanton County School District #43 and graduated from Pilger High School in 1965. He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Ronnie went to work for 3M Corporation in St. Paul, MN, and later earned his master's degrees in bio-medical engineering from Iowa State University at Ames, Iowa, and in business from the University of Texas in Dallas. He was employed for a number of years at Abbott Laboratories and Texas Instruments, both in the Dallas area. He was part of the team which designed one the first hand-held, anti-tank, heat seeking missiles, among other health related and defense related projects; and volunteered for more than 20 years for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Programs. Ronnie was an avid runner and participated in numerous marathons. He was preceded in death by his father Emil Gemelke; maternal grandparents Edward and Beata (Loewe) Hasenkamp; paternal grandparents Ernst and Louisa (Koehlmoos) Gemelke; and brother-in-law Kevin Meyer. Survivors include his mother Bernitha Gemelke of Beemer, Nebraska; brother and wife, Duane and Linda Gemelke of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; sister and husband LaRayne and Dale Topp of Wisner, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
