He was baptized on July 13, 1919, and later confirmed at St. John's Church on May 13, 1934. He attended Stanton County Rural School District 43. On Aug. 30, 1944, he married Bernitha Hasenkamp at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pilger. They farmed north of Pilger until retiring in October of 1982, when they moved into Pilger. Read More	Source: Stanton Register, Wednesday, October 9, 2002 Emil was born June 12, 1919, in rural Stanton, the son of Ernst and Louisa (Koehlmoos) Gemelke. He was baptized on July 13, 1919, and later confirmed at St. John's Church on May 13, 1934. He attended Stanton County Rural School District 43. On Aug. 30, 1944, he married Bernitha Hasenkamp at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pilger. They farmed north of Pilger until retiring in October of 1982, when they moved into Pilger. In the spring of 2000, Mr. Gemelke entered the Wisner Care Center. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Pilger, and had served as a trustee, elder, and member of the Lutheran Laymen's League. In 1968, he received the Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor Award for assisting area farmers after a tornado struck in 1967. Survivors include his wife, Bernita [Bernitha] of Pilger, children and spouses, Duane and Linda of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Ronnie Gemelke of Richardson, Texas; and LaRayne Meyer of Pilger, six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Anita and George Reimnitz of Corsica, S.D. Viola and Robert Brueggeman of Norfolk, Mildred and Leo Janulewicz of Omaha; sister-in-law, Margaret Gemelke of Rochester, Minn.; brother-in-law, Ivan Kemper of San Antonio, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, one brother and two sisters. Pallbearers were Steve Hanson, Nathan Gemelke, Harold Breitkreutz, Timothy Hasenkamp, Michael Gemelke, William Lombard III and Clinton Meyer. Contributor: Kent Pauling #47438725
