She was united in marriage to John Stotts in Sept.6,1877 at Knoxville,Marion County,Iowa. To this union eight children were born, six whom survive. Her husband preceded her in death on May 28, 1925 and her two older sons also preceded her in death.They moved to Nebraska, from Iowa, about 1881 to Diller,Jefferson Co.,Nebraska.And in 1903 to Harlan, (Nebraska) county on a farm south of Republican City.... Her husband preceded her in death on May 28, 1925 and her two older sons also preceded her in death.They moved to Nebraska, from Iowa, about 1881 to Diller,Jefferson Co.,Nebraska.And in 1903 to Harlan, (Nebraska) county on a farm south of Republican City. They lived at first in a two room sod house enduring all the hardships of early pioneer life. At an early age she was baptized into Christ at the old church south of Republican City. From 1893 to 1919 they lived on a farm enjoying life out-of-doors. After 26 years she moved to Washington (state) because of asthma although her heart was in Nebraska and she often spoke of desiring to return to the sunny skies of Nebraska. As a girl she remembered her father leaving to join the Army during the Civil War. All the children loved her and they all remember the good times at home. She lived with the children in Washington during the past few years and always enjoyed good health. She was a loving and kind mother who always enjoyed life. After moving to Washington she married George Bowker in Everett, Washington…. Who also preceded her in death passing away in 1934. She fell and broke her hip on May 21 and passed away May 22 in Everett, Wash., at the age of 99 years and 8 mos.. She is survived by six children: Mrs. Pearl Gruwell, East Stanwood,Wash.: Mrs. Maude McCracken, Red Cloud, Nebr.: Mrs. Goldie Groves, Marysville, Wash.: Mrs. Blanche Morgan-Edwards, Everett, Wash.: Mrs. Aleatha Bean, Lacomb, Alberta, Canada: and one son, James Stotts, Seattle, Wash.: one sister, Emma Edgington and one brother, Ernest Copeland, both of Lincoln, Nebraska: 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren and many other relatives and many friends. Her daughter Blanche, traveled on the train, with the body, from Washington state to Nebraska, for the burial. Services were held at the Zulauf Funeral Chapel Saturday, May 31 at 10:30. Rev. Ellis J. Votaw, pastor of the First Christian Church, Alma, Nebraska, officiating, Mrs. Edith Meredith and Mrs. June Feese accompanied by Mrs. George Kent sang “Ivory Palaces” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Interment was in the Republican City cemetery. Pallbearers were Earl Schriver, August Schlatz, Fred Dierking, Carl Hawley, Ray Wolf and Naman Hunter. The Zulauf Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
