Read More	Highland Recorder June 20, 1930 Mrs. Rosa Rexrode Page, aged 60 years, wife of Joel Page, died at her home near Naples, Monday night, June 9th. Mrs. Page was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Rexrode of the Crabbottom Valley. She is survived by her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Sidney Lowery, four grandchildren, two brothers and six sisters, Mrs. Page was a good woman, a devoted wife and mother. She had been a member of the Lutheran church since early girlhood, and died in the faith. She will be greatly missed in her home and community, Appropriate funeral services were conducted by Rev. R.V. Whitehurst of Monterey, Wednesday morning at Fairview church, after which her body was laid to rest in the cemetery nearby. Hymns used were “Old Rugged Cross”, “Nearer My God to Thee” “Some Sweet Day” and “No Disappointments in Heaven.” The large congregation attending the services and the profusion of beautiful flowers, attested the love and respect in which she was held. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved family. Highland Recorder June 20, 1930 In memory of Mrs. H. Joel Page, who departed this life at her home on Little Back Creek, Highland, Co., Va. June 9, 1930. God in his infinite wisdom chose to call this noble woman to her eternal home at 11:30 p.m. June 9th. Mrs. Page had failing health for several years. The fatal illness, however, was due to a kind of paralysis of the brain and stomach. Consciousness was never regained from the preceding Friday evening, and the period of illness was approximately two weeks. She was 60 years, 2 months, and 17 days of age when called from this life. On February 10, 1897 she was united in marriage to her surviving husband, H. Joel Page. The deceased leaves a surviving daughter, Mrs. Sidney Lowry of Little Back Creek. The surviving sisters and brothers are: Mrs. William Palmer, Mrs. B. McLaughlin, Mr. Preston Rexrode of W.Va., Mrs. Henry Hevener, Mrs. Albert Smith, Mrs. Elbert Pullin, Miss Mandie Rexrode, Mr. Arthur Rexrode of Highland county. Mrs. Page united with the Lutheran Church at the age of sixteen years, and has been a member “faithful unto the end.” Her last remarks regarding her spiritual welfare were to the effect that she was ready to go. Rev. R.V. Whitehurst conducted the funeral service, which was held at Fairview church on Little Back Creek, June 11th, at 11 a.m. The service was attended by an unusually large crowd, the church pews being filled and many standing at the church doorway and outside the building. Interment was in the Fairview cemetery. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. This neighborhood mourns the loss of one, who was of a kindly and cheerful nature, never regarding inconveniences or dangers as obstacles to her duty in case of the needs of others, and especially so in the illness of any neighbor.
