Description	:	Rosa Katharina BAKER, daughter of Johannes and Katharina BECK, was born October 8, 1893, near Lenox, Iowa. She passed away September 7, 1989, at the Clearview Nursing Home in Clearfield, Iowa, at the age of 95 years, 10 months and 30 days. She was united in marriaged to Ernest BAKER on January 18, 1932, at the home of her parents east of Lenox, Iowa. To this union three sons were born: Ernest Earl, Gerald Henry and Carroll Ransford. She passed away September 7, 1989, at the Clearview Nursing Home in Clearfield, Iowa, at the age of 95 years, 10 months and 30 days. She was united in marriaged to Ernest BAKER on January 18, 1932, at the home of her parents east of Lenox, Iowa. To this union three sons were born: Ernest Earl, Gerald Henry and Carroll Ransford. They spent their married life in the Clearfield area until Rosa entered Clearview Home in Mount Ayr (sic), Iowa on July 31, 1985. Rose enjoyed her home, family, garden and especially her church. She was a faithful and attentive member as long as health permitted. She was a member of the Calvary Methodist Church, later transferring her membership to the Clearfield United Methodist Church. Those preceding her in death were her husband, Ernest, on June 4, 1987; two infant brothers and two infant sisters; her parents; three brothers: Adolph, William and Charles; two sisters, Lena WURSTER and Flora ROGERS; a daughter-in-law, Nina BAKER, and one granddaughter, Connie BAKER. She leaves to mourn her passing three sons: Earl and Wife Bonnie, Gerald and wife Dorothy and Carroll and wife Leann; seven grandchildren: Galen BAKER and wife Cindy, Juanita HEIMKE and husband Gary, Marvin BAKER and wife Karen, Jerry BAKER and wife Mary, all of Clearfield; John BAKER and wife Brenda of Califorinia, Sherri DOGGETT and husband Dennis of Seymour, Iowa and Craig BAKER and wife Markeeta of Bedford, Iowa; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry BECK and wife Pearl, and sister-in-law, Sylvia BECK. Rosa had a long and interesting life. Her father died at an early age, leaving the family at home with many responsibilities and obligations. Rosa chose to work outdoors and after she and Ernest were married she continued with chores and picking corn. She always had a large garden, flowers and made many quilts. She saw many changes in her long life and enjoyed telling her family of her many experiences. Rosa and Ernest traveled extensively through the years and cherished the many acquaintances and memories of their trips. Rosa will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The following poem was submitted in her memory. I NEEDED THE QUIET I neede the quiet, so He drew me asaide Into the shadows where we could confide. Away from the bustle where all day long I hurried and scurried while active and strong. I needed the quiet tho' at first I rebelled, But gently, so gently, my cross He upheld And whispered so sweetly of spiritual things, Tho' weakened in body, my spirit took wings To heights never dreamed of when active and gay, He loved me so greatly, He drew me away. I needed the quiet, no prison my bed, but a beautiful valley of blessing instead A place to grow richer in Jesus to hide, I needed the quiet, so He drew me aside. Services were conducted at the Clearfield United Methodist Church on September 9, 1989, by Alan RUSK [Burial was in Clearfield Cemetery.]
