Description	:	Rosa Lucy Bartlett, the only daughter of Horace and Elizabeth [DeGroat] Bartlett was born in McHenry county, Illinois on October 10, 1875, and departed this life at the Leon hospital on October 16, 1957. She was 82 years and six days of age. In 1881, with her parents and five brothers, she moved to Decatur county, Iowa, making the long journey in a covered wagon. Read More	Rosa Lucy Bartlett, the only daughter of Horace and Elizabeth [DeGroat] Bartlett was born in McHenry county, Illinois on October 10, 1875, and departed this life at the Leon hospital on October 16, 1957. She was 82 years and six days of age. In 1881, with her parents and five brothers, she moved to Decatur county, Iowa, making the long journey in a covered wagon. In 1895, she was married to Delbert McLain, who preceded her in death in 1954. To this union were born seven children. The eldest, Orion, passed away in1950. Rosa, with her companion, lived and raised their family on a farm in New Buda township, where they continued to reside until 1944 when they moved to Leon, Iowa, and lived there until she entered the Frost Nursing Home in 1955, where she lived at the time of her passing. She leaves to mourn, three daughters: Iva Johnson of Lucas, Ia; Pearl Horney of Gilman, Ia; and Lula Shields of Mount Ayr, Ia; three sons: John of Des Moines, Delbert of Marshalltown and Jim of Davis City; three brothers: Herbert of Lamoni, Ed of Garden Grove and Frank of Wichita, KS. Two other brothers preceded her in death: Tom in 1933 and John in 1956. She also leaves eighteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Rosa united with the Methodist church in early life and remained true to her covenant. She was a loving mother, a kind neighbor and numbered her friends by her acquaintances. She will be sadly missed by those who loved her. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Eldon Haworth, were held at the Stewart Funeral Home on Sunday, October 20, at 1:30 p.m. Burial was made in the Leon cemetery.
