Gay, 95 YOUNGSTOWN – Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 420 Clearmount Drive, in Youngstown on Thursday at 10 a.m., with church services at 11 a.m. for Rosalie D. Gay, 95, who died on July 18, 2009, at her residence. Rosalie was born on Sept. 13, 1913 in Williamsfield, the daughter of J. Harry and Mollie Bridgeman Davis. Her ancestors were early settles of Ashtabula County. She graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1931. She attended the University of Michigan, the University of Colorado and graduated from Ohio University. She taught grade school in the Ashtabula County, was a homemaker, and later returned to teaching in the Youngstown City School System. She was a faithful and longtime member of the Martin Luther Lutheran Church, where she generously gave of her time and talents. She was an active member of the choir for many years. She served as a Sunday school teacher, president of the Martin Luther Church Women and was a member of Naomi Circle. She enjoyed gardening, travel, reading and her family and friends. Her husband, Gordan M. Gay, whom she married on Aug. 31, 1940, who died on Sept. 11, 1986. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Geoffrey V.; and brothers, Woodford and Gerald Davis. Rosalie is survived by her sister, Barbara Hillyer of Jefferson; her four children, Suzanne G. McPhee of Santa Rosa, Calif., Cynthia G. (John) Goldcamp of Barrington, Ill., Gregory P. (Nancy) Gay of Austintown and Priscilla (James) Fitori of Boardman; eight grandchildren, Mollie McPee Ho of Carlisle, Mass., J. Scott McPhee of Walnut Creek, Calif., John S. Goldcamp IV of Northbrook, Ill., Aimee D. Goldcamp of San Diego, Geoffrey M. Gay of Mt. Gilead, James R. Fitori Jr. of Columbus, Sarah E. Gay of Dublin and Elizabeth F. Masternick of Canfield; and five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Goldcamp, Madeleine R. Ho, Jack Goldcamp, Charles Goldcamp and Jack McPhee. Interment will take place in Williamsfield at the West Williamsfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that Rosalie be remembered through donations made to the Martin Luther Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, or Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.
