The decceased who was the youngest and only surviving member of a family of nine, was the daughter of the late Peter and Sophia Meisner, of Branch LaHave. She came to Midville Branch to live 68 years ago where she resided until her death. "Grammy" as she was known to all, was only sick one week. She contracted 'flu which was followed by pneumonia and this with advancing age, hastened the end. The late Mrs. Smith has a family of seven children, three having predeceased her, namely, Sidney, Lemuel, and Adelia, Mrs. Hallett Mailman. Those left to mourn their loss are: (Alice), wife of Reuben Mailman and Albert, of Lower Branch; (Minnie), widow of Perley Silver and Stephen, with whom she resided until her death; also 33 grand-children; 51 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. The largely attended funeral service was held from the home on Thursday afternoon and was conducted by her pastor, Rev. V.J. Monk, who used as his text part of the 8th verse of the 25th chapter of Genesis. Hymns sung were "It is Not Death to Die" and "Asleep in Jesus." The body was laid to rest beside her husband who predeceased her ten years ago. Pall-bearers were Stephen Wentzell, James Snyder, Stephen Veinotte, and Bernal Snyder. NOTE: Her parents were Peter Meisner (1797 - 1850) and Sophia Elizabeth Beck (1803 - )
