Description	:	(Picture to the right is of Rosanna & Joseph Beckwith) Rosanna was the daughter of Abraham & Mary Shook. She was born 30 Sept 1831 in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. I don't know much about the Shook family, nor about her first husband, who I believe was Francis Silvis. Francis & Rosanna had a daughter, Mary, who married John Calvin Bonsall. I don't know when Francis passed away, but Rosanna (Shook) Silvis married Joseph Beckwith by Newmun Dutcher, Justice of the Peace, on 1 January 1861, in Floyd County, Iowa. She was born 30 Sept 1831 in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. I don't know much about the Shook family, nor about her first husband, who I believe was Francis Silvis. Francis & Rosanna had a daughter, Mary, who married John Calvin Bonsall. I don't know when Francis passed away, but Rosanna (Shook) Silvis married Joseph Beckwith by Newmun Dutcher, Justice of the Peace, on 1 January 1861, in Floyd County, Iowa. Joseph Beckwith was already a widower, his wife, Lucinda (Wood) Beckwith, passing away on July 16, 1861, leaving Joseph with 10 children. Rosanna and Joseph had four children together: Magdelina (Mrs. Wm. C. Bonsall), William Bowman Beckwith, Rosanna Beckwith (Mrs. Garrett Rowe) and Melissa E Beckwith (Mrs. Abraham Shook). Rosanna passed away 30 August 1895, in Floyd County, Iowa, at the age of 63 years and 11 months. Joseph passed away three years later on June 17, 1898, at the age of 77. Received from Kathy Gerkins the following obituary for Rosanna: "Beckwith, Rosanna BECKWITH - At her home in this city, Saturday, August 31, 1895, Mrs. Rosanna Beckwith, wife of Joseph Beckwith, aged 62 years, 10 months and 25 days. The deceased was born October 6, 1832. At the age of 19 she was married to Francis Silvis in Erie City, Penn.; who died a few years after their marriage. Two children were born to them, one dying in infancy; the other is Mrs. G. M. Case, of this city. Mrs. Beckwith moved to this county 39 years ago, and was married to Joseph Beckwith about 35 years ago. A year ago last February it was discovered she had cancer in her mouth. She was advised to have it removed but neglected to do so until it was too late. She went to Chicago last January to consult a physician but he would not operate on it. She returned home and went to Davenport, but did not find any relief and has been a constant sufferer until death came to her relief. She leaves a husband to and five children to mourn her death. They are Mrs. G. M. Case, Mrs. Maggie Bonwell, William Beckwith, Mrs. Rosa Rowe, of this city, and Mrs. Melissa Shook, of Faribault, Minn. They were all in attendance at the funeral, which was held at the home Monday, September 2nd, conducted by Rev. A. A. Wilbur. The body was laid to rest in Niles cemetery."
