Read More	Mrs. Arch Gates, who died in Colorado Springs, Colorado at 4:15 PM on Wednesday, April 27 was born in David City and lived here until going to Colorado Springs some six years ago and hope to benefit her health. Rose Helen Styskal was her maiden name. She was born November 25, 1885, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Styskal. At time of her death she was in her 36 year. After graduating from the David City high school she taught for one year and then was associated in business with her father and sisters in a ladies furnishing store for several years. On October 19, 1910, she married Arch J. Gates, which took place in David City. To this union were born two children, a daughter, Helen Rose, and a son, Gideon, who with their father survive. Mrs. Gates also leaves her parents, one brother, Frank Styskal, and three sisters, Mrs. JF Bastar, Mrs. William D Miller and Mrs. HF Anderson, all living in David City. The body of Mrs. Gates arrived in David City Friday, accompanied by her husband , daughter her sister, Mrs. JF Baster and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Frank Styskal. Mrs Bastar was with her sister the last few weeks before her passing. Mrs. Frank Styskal left for Colorado springs on the day of Mrs. Gates death. Funeral services were held in St. Mary's Catholic Church, David City, at 10 o'clock Monday morning, May 2. Reverend father Bernard Sproll conducted the services. He was assisted by Reverend father Stanislav Neiberg, Of Fort Wayne Indiana, who preached the funeral sermon. Paul Albright, EA Coufal, WF Delaney John Eberly, BH Eiting and AV Thomas were pallbearers. Burial was in the David City Catholic cemetery. Coming from elsewhere to attend the funeral were Mrs. Vera Luhe of Seward and Mrs. Olga Webb of Columbus, longtime friends of the Stejskal family, and Mrs. RP Teal of Polk and James Teal of Lincoln , Aunt and cousin of Mr. Gates. Mrs. Gates was a devout follower of the Catholic faith, and lived her daily life according to its precepts. She was a truly fine character devoted to her family and friends and always had a kind and cheering word for all with whom she was associated. Her death marks the passing of a loving wife mother daughter and sister.
