Read More	Having been in failing health following a stroke she suffered in May, Rose Lovaas died Sunday morning, December 31, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Center in Lennox, SD. She attained the age of 71 years, 11 months and 16 days. Rose M. (Fischer) Lovaas was born January 15, 1929, on a farm west of Tea, SD, a daughter of Fred and Aalke (Schoffelman) Fischer. She attended District #4 rural school and grew to womanhood there. On June 24, 1952, she was united in marriage to Norman Palmer Lovaas at Luverne, Minnesota. The couple lived on a farm near Beresford until 1963, when they moved to Lennox. Her husband died July 18, 1991, and she continued to live in Lennox. Following the stroke she suffered in May, she became a resident of the Lennox Good Samaritan Center on June 23, 2000. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Wendell Gene, who died in infancy; her father on May 2, 1974; her mother on March 21, 1976; two sisters: Kate DeNeui on April 28, 2000, and Alice Straatmeyer on August 7, 2000. Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Wendell Lovaas and his friend, Delores Wells of Lennox; three daughters and their husbands: Judy and Michael McCormick, Julie and Richard Niewald, and Janice and Brian Haas, all of Sioux Falls; three grandchildren: Jennifer Haas, Cole McCormick and Ryan McCormick; two brothers and their wives: Alfred and Lucille Fischer, and Delmar and Ardis Fischer, all of Tea; three sisters: Anna DeNeui and her husband Louis of Chancellor, Frieda Stoffers of Lennox, and Johanna Oursland and her husband Donald of Sioux Falls; plus several nieces and nephews; and two cousins she helped raise, Vicki Muchow and Robin Fischer, both of Sioux Falls.
