Interment was in the Lennox Cemetery. Frieda (Fischer) Stoffers was born on a farm northwest of Lennox, South Dakota on Sept. 3, 1922, the daughter of Fred and Aalke (Schoffelman) Fischer. She grew up there and attended Schoffelman Schoo District #3. On Dec. 30, 1941 she was united in marriage to Edwin Stoffers at Hartington, NE. They farmed most of their married life northwest of Lennox and moved into Lennox in 1995. Frieda was employed at the Lennox Senior Citizens Center for the past 17 years, until she had a stroke on Sep. 3. She was preceded in death by her father on May 2, 1974; her mother on Mar. 21, 1976; her husband, Edwin, on Dec. 11, 1999; two sons: one in infancy on Oct. 2, 1953 and Darwin, at the age of 17, on Aug. 1, 1962; four sisters: Kate DeNeui on Apr. 28, 2000; Alice Straatmeyer on Aug. 7, 2000; Rose Lovaas on Dec. 31, 2000 and Anna DeNeui on Mar. 12, 2004. Frieda suffered a stroke on Sept. 3 of this year and became a resident of the Lennox Good Samaritan Center. She died suddenly there on Friday evening, Oct. 1, 2004, having attained the age of 82 years and 28 days. Grateful for having shared her life are three sons and their wives: Erwin and Betty Stoffers of New Castle, WY, LaRon and Paula Stoffers of Hurley, and Larry and Laura Stoffers of Worthing; seven grandchildren; two brothers and their wives: Alfred and Lucille Fischer and Delmar and Ardis Fischer, all of Tea; one sister: Joan Oursland of Sioux Falls; plus several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
