Jacobsen were held Thursday, April 15, 1965 at 2:00 p.m. in the First United Presbyterian Church at St. Paul with the Rev. Harold L. Snow officiating. Rose Mae, daughter of William David and Cynthia Elliott was born January 31, 1893 at Dewitt, Nebr. She moved with her parents to the Cottonwood Road area and received her education while living in that community. Much of her youth was spent in the Wolbach and Palmer area. She died at a Grand Island hospital April 13th, 1965. On May 29, 1914 at Lincoln, Nebraska, she was married to Walter Edward McIntyre. Two children were born to this union, Zola (Mrs. Victor Grossart) of Wolbach and Verden of St. Paul. They made their home in Wolbach for many years and in 1927 purchased the McIntyre Hardware and Furniture Store, and the McIntyre Funeral Home which Mr McIntyre had previously managed. In 1939 they moved to Grand Island where they also operated a Funeral Home until 1941 when they moved to St. Paul and took over the operation of the McIntyre Funeral Home at St. Paul which had been managed by their son Verden. After the death of Mr. McIntyre on August 4, 1944 she continued the operation of the Wolbach and St. Paul Funeral Homes with the help of her son Verden, but in 1946 sold the Hardware and Furniture Store in Wolbach to her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Grossart. On January 31, 1952 at Wolbach, she was united in marriage to Jens Peter Jacobsen, a mortician from Dannebrog. In 1954 he purchased Verden's share of the St. Paul Funeral Home and they continued to operate the Funeral Homes at Wolbach and St. Paul until ill health forced both to retire in 1959. Mr. Jacobsen died on February 2, 1961. Some time later she sold her interest in the St. Paul Funeral Home to his son, James Jacobsen. While living in Wolbach, she was a member of the Wolbach Trinity Lutheran Church. After moving to St. Paul she joined the First United Presbyterian Church and was active and helpful in the work of the United Presbyterian Women and other church activities. She was also a member of Ono Chapter 21, Order of Eastern Star, and Success Rebekah Lodge 215, both of St. Paul. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Zola Grossart of Wolbach and son Verden of St. Paul; two step-daughters, Mrs. Lois Kuska of Fairmont and Mrs. Genevieve Hoiberg of Alexandria, Virginia; step-son James Jacobsen of St. Paul; three sisters, Mrs. Lillian Pickrel of Homedale, Idaho, Mrs. Evelyn Ross of Portland, Oregon and Mrs. Bessie Weiser of Grand Island; three brothers, William Elliott, Reno, Nevada, Delbert in Wyoming and Jess of Wolbach; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
