Rose was born on April 2, 1915 at Sheehan Flats, above Rock Island Creek, Washington to the late Richard "Dick" and Edna (Goss) Bolton. She was raised and began her schooling at Sheehan Flats, in a one room school house. Read More	Rose Marie Stehr, 98, slipped peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior at her home in East Wenatchee on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. Rose was born on April 2, 1915 at Sheehan Flats, above Rock Island Creek, Washington to the late Richard "Dick" and Edna (Goss) Bolton. She was raised and began her schooling at Sheehan Flats, in a one room school house. Several years after the premature death of her father in 1926, the family moved to Waterville where she graduated from Waterville High School in 1933. She continued her education at Kinman Business College in Spokane. Following her graduation she went to work as a legal secretary at a Spokane law firm for three attorneys. When WWII broke out she went to Southern California where she was employed as a secretary by the US Navy at Naval Air Station, San Diego. In the summer of 1947, she moved to Wenatchee, where she was married to Frederick "August" Stehr on July 20, 1947 at the Central Christian Church in Wenatchee. They made their first home in Wenatchee, where August owned and operated the Columbia Texaco Station. In 1954 they purchased a ranch from Jim and Ruth Carmody at the base of Stemilt Hill Road above Malaga. They raised cattle, wheat and hay. August and Rose stayed busy farming and raising their family on the ranch for the next 10 years, and then returned to Wenatchee. Rose went to work briefly as secretary for Jim Davenport, Davenport Reality and then the US Forest Service, where she was secretary to the Forest Supervisor and remained until retiring in 1977. In 1978 they built their home in East Wenatchee. She was a longtime member of Central Christian Church, former members of FOE 204, Boating Club of Wenatchee, where they spent many happy hours on the dance floor, Wenatchee Garden Club , Malaga Grange, and Homemakers Club of Malaga. Rose was a very accomplished seamstress, and she had a green thumb and could grow anything. She especially loved being outside and working in her rose garden. At a young age she taught herself to play the piano, a talent that she polished through the years and could play almost anything in any key. Her "Zest" for life was contagious and she was always interested in helping others. She was truly the heart and soul of her family and we will miss her so much. She was preceded in death by her husband, on December 30, 1995; siblings, Charles Bolton, Kenneth Bolton and Melba Luebber. A devoted, and very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother leaves behind her sister, Marguerite Smasal, Withee WI; daughter, Linda Farnsworth, East Wenatchee, WA; son, Fred Stehr, Badger Mountain; six grandchildren, Brad Ulrich, Plain, WA, Tanya Stroscheim (Jason), Wenatchee, Shiela Erb-Stehr, East Wenatchee, Braedon Stehr (Jodi), Wenatchee, Tiffany Nash (Brad), White, GA, Renee Harlow, Olympia, WA; 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee, with Pastor Jerry Beebe officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Wenatchee Valley Humane Society. Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Memorial Chapel, East Wenatchee.
