Our loving mother and grandmother died on Friday, November 3, 2006 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born in Newark, Ohio on November 17, 1929 to the late Robert and Hazel (Thompson) Soliday. Rose is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Rick and Terry Stokes of Newark, Donald Stokes of Newark, and William Stokes of Heath; her daughters and son-in-law, Colleen and Colin Ward of Florida, and Peggy Stokes of Prairie Village, Kansas; 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Andrea, and Colin Mandrick, and Daniel, Michael, and James Stokes; and many nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, served as past-president of the Newark Business and Professional Women's Club, and was involved in civil organizations, including the Election Board. She enjoyed volunteering alongside our father with the Lions Club, and Knights of Columbus. During her lifetime, Rose was employed by Riley's Bakery, the Newark Trust Company, Judge Virginia Weiss' office, B&L Auto Supply, and the Sparta Restaurant. In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by two infant sons; her brothers, William and Donald Soliday; her sister, Helen Morrow; and most recently, her loving husband of 53 years, Richard. Friends and family may call from 5-8 P.M., Monday, November 5, 2006 at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 P.M. Join us in sharing memories of our mother, and bid her farewell as she joins our father on their continued journey.
