Rose was born in Bakersfield, October 19, 1915 and was a proud member of the California family that gave the City of Stockton its name. She was educated at Kern Union High School, Bakersfield College and Santa Barbara College, majoring in art. She married James W. Logan, Jr. on November 7, 1941 and traveled with him throughout the United States and territorial Hawaii during his career as a Naval officer. Upon Cdr. Logan's retirement, after a 21-year career in the Navy, they returned to Bakersfield. Rose became the Staff Artist for the Kern County Library, while Cdr. Logan became the Director of General Services for Kern County. Her artwork was displayed in all County libraries for over 10-years. During this time she was involved in reviewing and selecting children's books to entertain and educate children through the libraries. It was during these reviews that many authors inscribed and autographed books for her personal "Grandma's Collection" of children's books that she passed on to her grandchildren. After her husband's death in 1976, Rose began the travels she and her husband had planned to make. Over the next 20 years, she traveled the world extensively, embracing new friends that she managed to keep in touch with. Rose was especially proud of her family, her heritage and her many friends. She felt blessed and privileged in her life and she believed firmly in giving something back to society. She gave freely to countless charities and was honored for her many donated hours to the Cal State Well Core Repository through 60 Plus. She was a judge for many years at the Kern County Fair and chaired several committees. She belonged to many organizations, but was most active in The Retired Officers Association (TROA) and the Kern County Historical Society. She leaves behind her sister, Claire Homfeld of Mesa, Arizona; her son and daughter-in-law, James S. Logan and Sandy Logan; her daughter and son-in-law, Janel G. Harvey and Michael Harvey; her grandchildren, David Abney, Leyna Abney, Jeanette Cott, Kenneth Logan, Jennifer Reed, Michelle Standridge, Angela Scheer and Lory Bolden; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Marion Jewell Stockton and Eva Thomas Herndon Stockton, and her brother, Robert M. Stockton.
