Rosemary was born in Washington, DC, on December 4, 1940. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Behney and Jane Lauter. She graduated Mary Washington College with a Bachelors in Religion and Human Relations and a Masters from Virginia Commonwealth University in Rehabilitation Counseling. She loved her work at Hospice of Piedmont, Pinebrook Psychiatric Hospital and Hospice of Rapidan, to name a few of her employers. She generously volunteered for many organizations, which included Hope House Homeless Shelter and Grace, the Green Alliance for Church and Community Efforts. She was also a member of the Advisory Board of JABA. Rosemary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 14 years, Elijah Durrette Jarman, also known as E.D. They were members of the Greene County Cloverleaf's Square Dance Club, where they promenaded together down lover's lane! Rosie and E.D. were inseparable, shopping, gardening, dancing and setting up E.D.'s train room. They were very much in love. She is survived by her children and grandchildren whose photos line the walls and shelves throughout her house, Peggy (husband Drew, children, Parker, Wyndham, Taylor); Pamela (husband Neal, children Larry and Meritt); William (wife Devon, children Billy and Logan); Kevin (children Katlin and Madeline); Kerry (wife Charlotte, children Tiffany, Kerry Jr., Richard, Paul, Joshua, David and Brandon, great-grandchildren Kimberly, Chandler and Chloe); siblings, Kathy and husband Jim, Chuck and wife Marion, Michael and wife Nancy; and many nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten. Rosemary loved arts and crafts. She's made dazzling jewelry, beautiful stain glass that hangs in the windows of her home, she loved to sew, she made dozens of peek-a-boo dolls that are positioned strategically throughout the house and she was known as the queen of liquid embroidery back in the 70's. Gardening was one of Rosie's passions! She had enough tomatoes to supply all of Ruckersville! The largest cucumbers and zucchini found in the area. Flowers and plants bloom throughout her yard from Spring to Fall. If Rosie wasn't knee deep in dirt, she was at the local thrift shop. She loved to hunt for a good bargain! Rosemary was preceded in death by her one of her dearest friends and partner, Winnie Eddins, who she loved very much. They met square dancing and loved playing cards, attending community concerts and going to the movies at Mt. Poney with friends Harding and Dumpsey. A Memorial Service is being held to celebrate her life on Friday, November 29, 2013, 2 p.m. at Madison Presbyterian Church. Reception will follow the services in the church hall. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Piedmont Hospice for their support in Rosemary's final days. .
