Description	:	COLORADO SPRINGS, Co. - RoseMary E. Schoon passed away April 27th, 2012 at Penrose St. Frances Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 7th at 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. A RoseMary Lahiff was born October 26, 1924 in Clare, IA; daughter of James & Lillian Lahiff from Clare. She was baptized at St. Patrick's on the Lizard, and attended school at St. Matthews and graduated in 1942. She began working at the First Federal Bank. On April 22, 1946 she married Ronald J. Fitzgerald. Ronald & RoseMary's children, Constance R. Coughlon(David) of Colorado Springs, CO; Michael J. Fitzgerald (Jeannie) of Hot Springs, AR; Gregory M. Fitzgerald (Barb) of Fort Dodge, IA; Douglas R. Fitzgerald (Robin) of Black Forest, CO; Pamela J. Doyen (Daniel) of Crestwood, KY; Donna K. Fitzgerald of Fort Dodge, IA; grandchildren, Michelle(Doug)Stogdill of Panora, IA; Brian J. Coughlon of Colorado Springs, CO; Kari (Samir) Moustafa of Yuma, AZ; Toni (Daniel) Weydert of Montgomery, MN; Kim Fitzgerald of Fort Dodge, IA; Sheila (Joseph) Duarte of Wichita, KS; Jamie Rose Fitzgerald of Ft. Dodge, IA; Trisha Fitzgerald Colorado Springs, CO; Lindsey D. Doyen of Louisville, KY; Steven D. Doyen of Crestwood, KY; and 11 surviving great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents James J. Lahiff & Lillian Lahiff; son, Stephen J. Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Troy Fitzgerald, and Neal Fitzgerald; 1 step-grandson, and 1 step-great grandson. Ron & RoseMary made their home in Clare. She started out working for First Federal in Fort Dodge, ran a small diner in Clare, and then worked for the North Central Telephone company for 30 years in Clare and in Badger, IA. RoseMary was the organist for St. Matthew's Church in Clare for 30 years. Ronald passed away in 1962. She was united in marriage to Joseph Fitzgerald in 1965, and the couple lived in Clare and had one child, Phillip J. Fitzgerald of Battle Creek, MI. Joseph passed away in 1967. She Married Claude Black in 1970 and they made their home in Clare. Claude passed away in 1973. Survivors include 3 step-children, 5 step-grand children, and 8 step-great grand children. RoseMary married Gerdes 'Schoonie' Schoon in 1977, and is survived by 5 stepchildren; 3 step grand children, and 2 step great-grand children. Schoonie passed away in 1989. She moved to Fort Dodge from Clare in 1989. After retiring from the telephone company, she went to work at Heartland, and then Super 8 Motel as the evening desk clerk. She retired in the fall of 2011 at the age of 87. RoseMary served as a Eucharistic minister for Corpus Christi. She enjoyed her family and traveling. RoseMary loved to play duplicate Bridge, and going to Kentucky at Derby time. She also liked to dance. In the fall of 2011 she moved to Colorado Springs, CO from Ft. Dodge. RoseMary was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colorado Springs and the Bridge Center. Participated in many activities at the Retirement Center where she lived.
