Services were Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church at Charter Oak, Iowa, with the Rev. Richard Merrill officiating. Burial was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Rosie Christina Bertha Goslar was born May 7, 1924, on a farm southeast of Ute, the daughter of Frank and Clara (Kock) Kroll. On May 25, 1924, she was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute and confirmed there on April 3, 1938. She grew up in the area and graduated from Ute High School with the class of 1942. She then attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, where she earned her teaching certificate. After teaching in rural schools in the Ute and Schleswig, Iowa area, she then married W. Earl Goslar on June 14, 1945, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute. The couple's life's work was in farming, first in the Berne area and a couple years later moving onto the their home place near Ute. It was there that they lived, worked, and raised their four children. After Earl's passing on April 13, 1982, Rosie remained on the farm with her son, Melvin, until the present time. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, where she worked with the church ladies and taught Sunday School. She was a very active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Homer Hall Unit 66 of Charter Oak, where she held multiple offices and went on to serve as 8th District Auxiliary president from 1982 to 1983. She often attended the spring and fall conferences and the Mid Winter State conventions. Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Karen Bathke and Raymond of Dakota City; two sons, Lester Goslar and his wife, Donna of Mapleton and Melvin Goslar of Ute; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one son-in-law, Earl Johnson of Ponca, Neb.; and one sister and her husband, Elvera and Edgar Meseck of Schleswig, Iowa; along with numerous other relatives, good friends, and neighbors. Along with Earl, her husband, Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Clara Kroll; a daughter, Bonnie Johnson; a sister and her husband, Selma and Raymond Reincke; and two nephews, Francis Meseck and Allan Reincke.
