She attended rural grade schools, St. John's Catholic High School, and graduated from Humboldt Public High School. She received a B.S. degree from Drake University. She taught in several Iowa cities and the last 20 years of her teaching career were in the Fort Dodge Public Schools. She moved to Fort Dodge in 1962 and to the Marian Village in 1988. She was a member pf Sacred Heart Sodality, the Legion of Mary, the Marian Home Auxiliary, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and the Webster County Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Catherine (Fitzpatrick) Collins, four sisters, Angela Collins, Esther Bemrich, Grace Mersch and Joann Lentsch; two brothers, Eugene Collins and Joseph Collins. She is survived by a sister, Zeta Wittman of Hobart, IN; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Cain Collins of Fort Dodge; nieces, Maureen (Pat) Hobart of Rockwell City, Karen (Duane) Thilges of Fort Dodge; and a large extended family of other nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
