She had been ill only a few days. Roxanna Belle Nicholls, daughter of David and Hanna Cruse, was born on July 4, 1867 at Mason City, Illinois. She passed away at the Oshkosh hospital Saturday morning October 10 after a few days illness. She joined the United Brethern church as a young lady, and then when she moved to Oshkosh she transferred her membership to the First Methodist church. Mrs. Nicholls taught school for about five years before she was married. She and Samuel H. Nicholls were united in marriage in 1890 at Hastings. To this union two children were born; Steve Nicholls of Oshkosh and Bessie Nicholls, her daughter, who preceded her in death in 1945. She and her family settled at Kenesaw, from 1887 to 1931 when they moved to Garden county where they have lived since. Her husband preceded her in death in 1950, and from that time on Mrs. Nicholls has resided with her son, Steve in Oshkosh. She is survived by her son, Steve of Oshkosh, a brother, Charles of Kenesaw, and five grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Wright Chapel in this city Monday afternoon with Rev. Vern Ells delivering the sermon. Interment was in the Ash Hollow cemetery beside her husband.
