Nicholl[s], 82 died Wednesday afternoon of last week [April 26, 1950], at his home. He had been in ill health for the last few months. Nicholl[s], 82 died Wednesday afternoon of last week [April 26, 1950], at his home. He had been in ill health for the last few months. He was born at Red Bank, Pennsylvania, on October 16, 1867 of English parents, His father came to America when young on the same boat with Andrew Carnegie. On Thanksgiving day, 1890, he was united in marriage at Hastings to Roxanna B. Cruse. To this union two children were born, Stephen S., who still resides near Oshkosh, and Bessie B., who succumbed in 1945. In Adams county Mr. Nicholl[s] farmed for many years and was also a successful stock raiser. He moved to Garden county in 1931, being associated with his son in farming until 1938 when they moved into town. Mr. Nicholl[s] was a lover of nature and came to love Western Nebraska. He and Mrs. Nicholl[s] delighted in living in this area and only last Thanksgiving observed their 59th wedding anniversary. Suviving besides hls wife and son are five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Wright Funeral home in Oshkosh with Rev. R. E. Daughetee in charge and burial in Ash Hollow cemetery.
