Read More	Mrs. James Salkeld Dead Mrs. James Salkeld [Roxie Ann Orton] died at her home southwest of town last Thursday evening. Her illness was of but brief duration, a complication of kidney trouble being the cause of death . Monday, January, 3rd she gave birth to beautiful twin babies, a boy and a girl. Until a few hours of her death she was doing nicely and was expected to be up in a few day to care for the little ones. Last Thursday evening, however, she drew suddenly worse and the family physician was summoned immediately. He made all possible haste In getting to her bed-side but reached her only a few moments before she breathed her last. The news of her death flew over our town and vicinity as on the wings of the wind. Wherever it touched it left sorrow, and the expression of sympathy for the bereaved ones were many and from the heart. None but those who have sat beneath the shadow of a great bereavement can justly weigh such a sorrow as this. Those who have gone down into the valley of suffering and stood by the side of loved ones, as hope after hope dropped away as the petals falling away from a flower, know that such anguish cannot find solace in the tenderest words. She who has gone forth could not be supported on her solitary path by any earthly friend. The husband with a devotion few men are capable of, whose strength was given tenderly, whose heroic devotion never faltered, could not detain her by the clasp of earthly love ; but after the last word had been spoken, the last sign of recognition was gone, a look of peace settled on her face which proclaimed victory, and he knew she was resting on a mighty arm. Life will never be quite the same to those who knew her, while those who were nearest to her will long for her with unutterable longings --long for a mother's counsel and advice, and a wife's gentle and loving sympathy. To the husband, children and relatives the tenderest sympathy of the entire community is extended. The last services were held at the Methodist church, of which she has been a member for several years, Saturday at two o'clock, Rev. P. B. Knapp officiating. Songs were touchingly rendered by a special choir. The flowers were many and beautiful. Thus we will leave her, and in memory keep her, as sweetly reposing among the beautiful and fragrant flowers. - As written by the editor of The Blue Mound (Kansas) Sun, Mr J N Barnes a longtime personal friend of the Salkeld family.
