Mr. Moore had been ill for the past several weeks, but his death came as a shock to his relatives and many friends in this community. Moore well known and prominent business man of Eureka, died at his home here Sunday, March 28. Mr. Moore had been ill for the past several weeks, but his death came as a shock to his relatives and many friends in this community. He had been associated with the Moore Mortage and Abstract Company in Eureka for many years and was one of the town's leading citizens, always ready to lend a hand in every worthly enterprise. Roy A. Moore, son of Phillip Marshall and Melissa G. Moore, was born April 19, 1884, near Eureka, and died in Eureka, Sunday morning, March 28, 1943 He was educated in the Eureka schools and at Baker University, Baldwin, Kansas. He was married June 12, 1911, to Miss Lucretia Ruth Mills of Eureka. Three daughters were born to them: Ruth Moore, of Hollywood, California; Mrs. Virginia Stewart, of Honolulu, T.H.; and Eleanor Moore, now a studen at Baker University. Mr. Moore had been a member of the Eureka Methodist Church siince early childhood. He also was a membeer of the Masonic Lodge and the Eureka Chamber of Commerce. Surviving are the widow and daughters, and one brother, Charles E. Moore of Eureka; a sister, Mrs. Effie Rigg Swegle of Augusta, Kansas; and two nephews, Morgan E. Moore of Eureka, and Lieutenant Melvin G. Rigg of Stillwater, Oklahoma. Funeral service was held from the Methodist Church here Tuesday, March 30, conducted by the Rev. Phillip D. Norvall, pastor of the Methodsit Church. Interment was in the Greenwodd Cemetery. From Eureka Herald 1 April 1943 page 1.
