Death notice in the Lima News, Lima, Ohio dated Monday, January 23, 1950 LIMA MAN DIES FROM CAR FUMES Roy Brewer Found Sunday in Garage Roy Brewer, Sr., 52, of 726 Catalpa-av, was found dead at noon Sunday in the garage of his home. The Allen-co coroner, Dr. T. J. Talbott, who ruled his death accidental, said Mr. Brewer was overcome by carbon monoxide fumes. Brewer, former Ohio Steel Foundry Co., general foundry foreman, went to his garage about 10 a.m. to repair his auto. His body was found by a son, Glenn, slumped over the front seat of the car. The auto's ignition was turned off, and the car doors were closed. A rear garage door was open partially. Mr. Brewer had been working at the American Steel Foundry Co., in East Chicago, Ind., since Jan. 1. He was to leave at 2 p.m. Sunday for East Chicago after a week-end with his family. On Monday, Mr. Brewer was to become the foundry foreman. Born Oct. 30, 1897, in Auglaize-co, he served the Ohio Steel Foundry for 28 years. Mr. Brewer was a member of the Wesley Methodist church and the Lima Foremen's club. Surviving are his widow, Cecile May; three other sons, Bernard, 708 N. McDonel-st; Roy, Jr., Route 6 and Wayne, San Diego, Calif: two daughters Mrs. Guy Shaeffer, Van Wert, and Ruth at home; four grandchildren; a brother, Ronald, Van Wert; his mother, Mrs. Clara Brewer, also of Van Wert. The body will remain in Siferd and Son Funeral Home until services at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Wesley church. The Rev. T. C. Davis will officiate, and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
