Description	:	Roy Charles ‘Bud’ Herbold died Thursday, May 7, 2015 of Marshalltown, after a courageous battle with cancer at Iowa River Hospice with loving family by his side. Funeral services for Bud will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Rev. Martha Hill officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home where Bud’s family will be present to greet friends. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Bud and his family. Bud was born January 15, 1939 in Newton, Iowa, the son of Roy Charles Herbold Sr. and Irene (McNeal) Herbold. He graduated from Kellogg High School in 1957 where he was a two sport varsity athlete in football and basketball. Bud was married to his devoted wife Bonnie (Hanke) Herbold on November 9, 1985 and who survives him. He is also survived by his sister Laura Smith of Colfax, along with many nephews and nieces. Bud had a large extended, loving family including five children: Robin (Mark) Robinson of Tucson, AZ, Lynn (Tom) Duchardt of Orange County, CA, Skip (Stephanie) Herbold of Runnells, IA, Richard (Tena) Pratt of Mount Vernon, IA and Jennifer Pratt-Howe of Fairfield, IA. Seventeen Grand Children: Trevor, Sean, Ian, Megan (Larry),Hayley, Alex, Amanda, Kilmeny, Katelyn (Mark), Stephanie (Ivan), Mikala, Andrew, Sydney, Jacob, Kyli, Kaleb and Chelsea. Thirteen Great Grand Children: Kaylee, Ezra, Ethan, Bella, Nicholas, Ava, Marcus, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Zach, Jackson, Mia, Gunner. Bud was a career grocery man, working for Hy-Vee from 1956 – 1990. During his 34 year career, he held department and management positions in Newton, Marion, Ames, Lamoni, Muscatine, Washington, Maryville and Marshalltown. He was grateful for the wonderful relationships he had with those he worked with and was especially proud of their development. Bud will always be remembered for his winning attitude and competitive spirit. He was an avid golfer who loved fishing, hunting and playing cards.
