Mr. Loomis was bereft of his wife a number of years ago, and had resided in his own home where he was found a friend and helper to those who needed him. He leaves to his mourning one daughter, two sons, other relatives and a host of friends Burial was in the Union cemetery. we extend our deepest sympathy to those who mourn. Roy Clarence Loomis, son of Wilson W. and Mary Stephenson Loomis, was born Nov. 25, 1885 in Clarke County, Iowa and passed from this life May 31st (1960) at Iowa City at the age of 74 years, 6 months, and 6 days. On Jan. 22, 1910 he was married to Ollie Jane Audlehelm and to this union were born five children, Clarence of Thayer, Grace Files of Winterset, Carl of Peru and two infant sons who preceded him in death. Roy was one of nine children. He had four brothers and 4 sisters. Two brothers, Walter and Edward, and two sisters, Ethel Sullivan and Alice, preceded him in death; two brothers, Winfield, of Sheridan, WY and Ralph, of New Virginia, and two sisters, Mrs. Iva Little of Murray and Mrs. Nellie Lovell of Glendo, WY are left to mourn his passing as well as six grandchildren and six great grandchildren and many other relatives and many, many friends. Mr. Loomis spent his entire life in Clarke County as a farmer until 1939 when he retired from farming and moved to Murray to care for his loving wife who was in very poor health. He cared for her until her passing on Dec. 5, 1954. He was a member of the Union Church since his boyhood and was buried at Union Cemetery beside his wife. Funeral services for Mr. Loomis were held Friday, June 3rd at 2:00 pm at the Watts Soll Funeral Home in Murray with the Rev. H. W. Kinzler in charge.
