Description	:	Roy was the son of Clara Doral Wiegel and Carl. Confirmed at St Johns in Charter Oak (Iowa) Lutheran Church. He worked on the family farm til he entered the U.S. Air Force on Dec 28, 1942 and served his country in the battles of Normandy, Northen France, the Rineland and central Europe. He was discharged Nov 2, 1945 and returned to Charter Oak. He married Frances Reincke on Feb 3,1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Ia. Three children were born to them. Roy went to work for 36 years at Crawford County as a heavy equipment operator and retired at age 62. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife Frances, daughter Carol Meyer and her husband Bruce of Charter Oak, two sons, Gary Wiegel and his wife Connie of Charter Oak, Kenneth Wiegel and his wife Diane of Odebolt Ia. and four grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Mildred Beam of Dow City, Iowa and Lois Laubscher and her husband Fred of Dow City; two brothers Laverne Wiegel and his wife Amelia of Charter Oak and Leonard Wiegel and his wife Gladys of Schleswig Ia. Roy died in Crawford Co Memorial Hosp, he had been a diabetic for many years and had a below knee amputation as a result of the disease.
