Medical help was summoned but the stricken man recovered only partially from the attack before he passed away. Medical help was summoned but the stricken man recovered only partially from the attack before he passed away. He was born on October 14, 1892 at Bethlehem, near Davenport, Washington where he attended school and lived until 1920. On December 27, 1920 he was united in marriage to Wilhelmina Sampson. The family lived near Spokane until 1924 when they moved to Brewster for two years. In 1926 Mr. and Mrs. Runyon, and children moved back to Spokane where they resided until 1937. During this period of years, Mr. Runyon was a member of the American Legion, of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, an American Yeoman and a member of the Machinists and Mechanics Union. Back to Brewster In 1937 the Runyon family moved to Brewster where Mr. Runyon took charge of the repair shop for the Gamble Lumber Co. He held this position until his death as he was apparently in better health during the past two years than formerly. Active in Community Mr. Runyon was deeply interested in Brewster PTA and in various other community activities. He was known as an excellent mechanic, a favorite among the men with whom he worked and well thought of in the community. Funeral services were held at the Community Log Church Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 with Rev. N. O. Brooks officiating. Interment was at the Locust Grove cemetery following graveside services. Tribute Paid The following tribute was read as part of the service. "A devoted father and husband, a good citizen who was active in school and other civic improvements, charitable and eager to help everyone." "But keenest in our memory of the Roy who was our fellow member of the crew, never too busy to stop and help the other fellow with his job or machine, never said "can't" or never gave up, no job too tough to tackle. He worked many times when he was not able, never complained. When a job was done he would stand leaning on a machine or other piece of equipment with that old grin on his face." "There will never be another Roy. He was our friend, our helper. Our deepest sympathy is extended to his wife and children." -----Martha and the Crew Surviving He is survived by his widow, six daughters, Mrs. Merton McKee, Mary Jane, twin daughters Lynn and Lois, Gail and Rhea Kay; two brothers and four sisters. Music was furnished by John Tukey of Pateros who sang two solos and by a quartet composed of Mrs. Max Goehry, Mrs. Kenneth McPherson, Mrs. T. H. Pettie and Mrs. N. O. Brooks with Mrs. J. W. Geissler accompanying at the piano. The pallbearers were Mrs. Runyon's four brothers, Weldon, Kenneth, Charles and Jack Sampson, and two brothers-in-law, Harley Markham and Lester Waddell.
