Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 16, 2010 in the Lisco Memorial Cemetery at Lisco, Nebraska with Pastor Duane Dunwoody officiating. He was born Oct. 27, 1944 in Omaha, NE. and came to live with Elwyn and Eunice Curry of Ashby, NE in 1946. He attended grade school at Well Valley, where he and his sister Lyla rode their horses to school, and attended high school at Garden County High School. He took several years of 4H and was crowned king at 4H achievement. He went to Gillette, Wyoming where he worked in construction and in the oil fields. There he met and married Gloria Neugebauer Dec. 26, 1964. To this union three children, Scott Elwyn, Tammy Leigh, and Christopher John were born. In March 1966 Roy, Gloria and son Scott moved to Whitefish and built the Greenwood Mobile Home Terrace. In 1972 they traded the mobile home park for the Mountain Holiday Motel. After selling the Mountain Holiday Motel Roy continued working in various business ventures which included buying and running several more motels in and out of the Flathead Valley. Roy spent most of his life in Whitefish and Kalispell Montana. He never knew a stranger and always had time to visit. His trademark was his boisterous laugh that came straight from the belly and it certainly was contagious! Roy loved Nebraska, the Sand Hills, and the love and loyalty that comes with small communities. He also loved the Flathead Valley with its big beautiful mountains and lakes where he could enjoy the beauty of nature. It was in both beloved places he left a legacy of hard work, loyalty, community and nature for his children and grandchildren. Roy leaves behind sons Scott Elwyn Curry, Christopher John Curry with his wife Parichat Curry, daughter Tammy Leigh Adams with her husband Doug Adams, five grandchildren; Nicholette, Logan, Molly, and Samantha Bee and Ethan Lee Curry, sister Lyla Rice, second mom Aunt Bernetha Groves, niece Melinda Rice, nephew Jim Rice, numerous cousins and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by father Elwyn Curry, brother-in-law Herschell Rice, niece Kathy Berch and nephew John Ed Berch. His mother Eunice Curry died 16 days after Roy on May 25, 2010.
