Description	:	MT. STERLING - Roy O. Roberts, 76, of Mt. Serling, died at his home at 8:30 pm Sept. 9, 2011. He was born Sept. 8, 1935, to Claude and Ruth Roeder Roberts in Roscoe, Mo. He grew up in Roscoe and graduated from Roscoe High School in 1953. Roy married Joy Lancaster in Mt. Sterling on Jan. 1, 1956. Serling, died at his home at 8:30 pm Sept. 9, 2011. He was born Sept. 8, 1935, to Claude and Ruth Roeder Roberts in Roscoe, Mo. He grew up in Roscoe and graduated from Roscoe High School in 1953. Roy married Joy Lancaster in Mt. Sterling on Jan. 1, 1956. He was employed by BNSF Railroad for 41 years, retiring in 1996, and also farmed near Mr. Sterling. Roy was a member of Concord Christian Church of Concord, Ill., and a 50-year member of Keosauqua Lodge No. 10, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and member of Ainad Temple, East St. Louis, Ill. Roy loved spending time with his grandchildren, watching their sports participation, hunting and spending time with his show dog "Homer." Roy loved baseball; one of his proudest mements was when his grandson Brian, got promoted to the Major Leagues and when granddaughter, Lindsay, accepted a position as a strengthening-conditioning coach at Purdue University. Roy is survived by his wife, Joy; two daughters, Pam Dinkelman(Wally)of Irvington, Ill., and Carolyn Bone(Kraig)of Old Mines, MO.; four grandchildren; his mother, Ruth Roberts of Roscoe, Mo.; four brothers Bill of Springfield, Mo., Dale(Betty)of Mr. Sterling, Lee of Burlington and Ted(Pam)of Republic, Mo.; and two sisters, Irene Bell(Robert)of Stockton, Mo., and Neva Mallicoat(Albert)of Roscoe, Mo. Also surviving are family members, Barbara Craig(Dale)of Keosauqua and Joe Lancaster of Viola, Ill. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude; son, Gregory; brother, Carl; and sister, Jannie. Graveside inurnment will be at 2 pm Tuesday at Harness Cemetery, Mt. Sterling; the Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating. Open visitation will begin at 3 pm today at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with the family present from 5-8 pm this evening. Masonic Rites will be at 7 pm tonight. Memorials for the Shriners Hospitals for Children or for the family to designate later.
