Description	:	Roy Holmes Funeral services for Roy Holmes, 79, of Omaha,formerly of Oakdale were held recently at Crossley-Burget Chapel in Omaha. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Rev. Marvin Koelling of Norfolk officiated. Roy Russell Holmes, son of Elmer and Rena Barnes Holmes, was born March 22, 1909, in Oakdale, and died August 18 at Bergan-Mercy Hospital in Omaha. He attended country school south of Oakdale and went to Oakdale High School, graduating in 1928. He attended Wayne State College. Roy Russell Holmes, son of Elmer and Rena Barnes Holmes, was born March 22, 1909, in Oakdale, and died August 18 at Bergan-Mercy Hospital in Omaha. He attended country school south of Oakdale and went to Oakdale High School, graduating in 1928. He attended Wayne State College. He worked on the electrical "high line" installation project near Plainview. On February 11, 1931, he married Opal Henery of Plainview in a double wedding ceremony at Elgin with his sister, Wanda, and Harold Carstensen of Neligh. Holmes worked at the Morris Hatchery in Neligh for several years before moving to Norfolk where he was employed at Schwein's Norfolk Hatchery for more than 30 years. In the 1950s, he moved to Omaha where was employed with the Peter Kiewit Corporation. Holmes always attended the Oakdale High School Banquet and was present in May 1988 for his sixtieth reunion. He was a member of the Norfolk IOOF Lodge. Preceding him in death were his parents, and one sister, Wanda. Survivors include his wife, Opal; one son, Randy of Riverside, Calif.; nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren; and two sisters, Majol Wingate Halsey of Chambers and Laura LaRose Huntsman of Stockton, California. bio courtesy of Patricia Kennedy Max FAG #48551670
