Description	:	Funeral services for Mrs. Harold Carstensen were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 11, 1967 from the Presbyterian Church in Elgin with the Rev. Homer Hoewing, Pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. K. Lowell Gaither. Hymns were sung by Mrs. James Armstrong and Mrs. Duane Johnson, accompanied by Mrs. Donald Genrich, organist. Interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Orville Miller, Ed Carnes, Bernard Escritt, Ralph Kinnan, Leland Pierce and Ivan Bergstrom serving as casket bearers. Wanda Leone Carstensen, daughter of Elmer and Rena Barnes Holmes, was born June 3, 1911 at Oakdale and departed this life on September 8, 1967 at the Tilden Hospital. She had been in failing health for several months and had submitted to major surgery in February, 1965 and again in June, 1967. Wanda grew to womanhood in the Oakdale community and received her education in the Sunshine, Mount Air and Dist. 119 rural schools, and the Oakdale Public Schools. She joined the Oakdale Methodist Church at an early age and afterwards became a member of the Star EUB congregation. For the past several years she has been a member and active supporter of the Elgin Presbyterian Church. On February 11, 1931, at the Methodist Parsonage in Elgin, she was united in marriage with Harold Peter Carstensen, with the late Rev. David Scott performing the ceremony. To this union two sons were born. They made their home on farms in the Neligh and Oakdale communities their entire married life. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Ladies Aid, Anchors and Oars, Star Ladies Aid and the Star Women's Club. Survivors include her husband and parents, two sons, Caryl L and his wife Donna of Neligh, and Dale L. of Lincoln; three granddaughters, Debra, Dianne and Denise, all of Neligh; one brother, Roy Holmes of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. Majol Wingate, Tilden and Mrs. LaRose Huntsman, Naval Communication Station, Morocco.
