Description	:	Roy Wallace Humphries, 85, of 2920 Blossom Street, formerly of Gaffney, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 16, 2010, in Brian Center of Columbia. Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Ruby Frances Lipscomb Humphries and son of the late Roy Anem Humphries and Mary Vaneila McCraw Humphries. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School and self employed until his retirement from R. Wallace Humphries Septic Tank Service in 2005. Read More	Roy Wallace Humphries, 85, of 2920 Blossom Street, formerly of Gaffney, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 16, 2010, in Brian Center of Columbia. Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Ruby Frances Lipscomb Humphries and son of the late Roy Anem Humphries and Mary Vaneila McCraw Humphries. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School and self employed until his retirement from R. Wallace Humphries Septic Tank Service in 2005. Mr. Humphries was an avid farmer and golfer, having won many tournaments at Cherokee National Golf & Recreational Club. He was a member of Grassy Pond Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, church treasurer for 47 years and served on various other committees. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Randy Wallace Humphries and wife, Sally, of Summerville; a daughter, Donna Hammett and husband, Richard, of Columbia; a sister, Catherine Kirby of Boiling Springs, NC; four grandchildren, Emily Kristen Herbig and husband, Jeff, Brandon Wallace Hammett and fiancee, Shanda Bratley, Sarah Amanda Schrock and Randy Wallace Humphries Jr. and wife, Charity; four great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Thomas Herbig Jr., Paden Elizabeth Herbig, Asher Wallace Grayson Humphries and Meagan Ryley Schrock; numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Humphries. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2010, at Grassy Pond Baptist Church. Funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Martin Hogg and teh Rev. Terry Lanford officiating. Interment will be in Grassy Pond Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Grassy Pond Baptist Church, 254 Grassy Pond Road, Gaffney, SC 29341 or the Alzheimer's Association , 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
