Roy William Paulson, 90 years of age, of rural Edison, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Hol-drege, Nebraska. Roy was born on December 29, 1913 on a farm 13 miles north of Holdrege in Phelps County, Nebraska, the third of eight children of John and Mabel (Sandin) Paulsen. His family moved to a farm southwest of Bertrand, Nebraska, where Roy attended rural school District #25. On March 17, 1937 he was united in marriage to Myrtle Marie Watson of Oxford, Nebraska and to this union two daughters were born, Loy and Patricia. The family made their home on a farm north of Oxford for two years before moving to Boise, Idaho in 1940. While in Idaho, Roy operated a service station for two years. They moved to Seattle, Washington in 1942, where Roy worked for Boeing. In 1946 they returned to Nebraska and farmed west of Edison, where Roy continued to reside until his passing. On June 15, 1998, Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle. Roy was a member of the Edison Christian Church where he served on the church board for 40 years and on the Edison School Board for eight years. He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter, Patricia Best and her husband, Rodney, of Edison, Nebraska; five grandchildren: Theresa Corrada and her husband, Roberto of Denver, Colorado; Patrick Eppard and his wife, Tami, of Centennial, Colorado, Jenny Cook and her husband, Scott, of Kansas City, Kansas, Jon Best and his wife, Elizabeth, of Warrenville, Illinois, and Tara Best of Savannah, Georgia; a foster granddaughter, Veronica Losh of Lenexa, Kansas; seven great-grandchildren: Christina, Darrin and Kelista McGraw of DeSoto, Kansas, Maximo and Amelia Corrada of Denver, Colorado and Zane and Jude Best of Warren-ville, Illinois; two brothers, Herbert Paulson of Holdrege and John Paulsen and his wife, Edna, of Funk, Nebraska; three sisters: Myrtle Clayton of Holdrege, Nebraska, Ruth Nelson of Loomis, Nebraska and Irene Griffith of Bertrand, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Ora Cowan of Holdrege, Nebraska, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Loy, one brother, Albert Paulson and one sister, Louise Paulsen. Pallbearers were Patrick Ep-pard, Jon Best, Wayne Cowan, Rolland Fletcher, David Griffith and Toby Clayton. A memorial has been established in his memory. The Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford was in charge of the arrangements.
