Obituary provided by contributor gayle neuhaus: HONORED CITIZEN GONE Royal Lowell, who has suffered for some time with Lanile Gangrene, died at his home in the northwest part of town last Tuesday at 12:10 p.m. Royal Lowell was born January 2, 1819 in Victor, Ontario county, New York, removed to Michigan, when but a boy, was married at the age of twenty six to Miss Cordelia Bowen near Ann Arbor. From this union six children were born, five of whom are still living. In sixty four, he enlisted in the late war. Shortly after the war, his wife died. In 1886 he moved to Creighton, where he resided up to the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Scott in 1889, who survives him. The deceased was one of the most respected citizens of Creighton. The funeral services were held at the G.A.R. hall, Wednesday, at two o'clock and were conducted by the Grand Army of the Republic. Rev. Wilcox preached the discourse. ...The Creighton Courier 19 Dec 1895 ******* Will Lowell of St. Joe, Mo. arrived in the city, Monday to visit his father, who is very sick.
