Description	:	Funeral services for Rubelle A. Tefre will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Plentywood High School Fieldhouse. Agnes Thedin and Donovan Olson will officiate at the service. A reception in the PHS cafeteria will follow the service, with the procession departing for the cemetery at 12:15 PM. Graveside rites at Rock Spring Cemetery west of Reserve will be conducted by Nichole Frasch and Carolyn Jacobsen. (Hartvikson) Tefre was born February 18, 1921 in Knox, ND to Hartvik and Inga (Ottem) Hartvikson. She was raised in that area and graduated from high school, then attended the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Rugby, ND, graduating as a cadet nurse in 1945. She then received further training at the affiliates of Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. And St. Peter Hospital, St. Peter, MN. She was employed as a registered nurse at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND until she married Howard Tefre there on October 17, 1953. To this union were born two sons and the family lived on Howard’s father’s homestead, west of Reserve where they farmed actively until Howard “retired” in about 1986. Although formally retired, they were still very involved in farm operations until November, 2010 when they moved to the Pioneer Manor in Plentywood, Mt where they have enjoyed the other residents and staff. They went to Seattle for two winters in the sixties where Rubelle worked as a registered nurse at Virginia Mason and Standring Memorial Hosptials. Although they were very “tied to the land”, Howard and Rubelle did make some trips that they enjoyed thoroughly, traveling to Colorado, Arizona, Alaska, Hawaii, Washington and a very special trip to meet many relatives in Norway. Rubella did wonderful crocheting, leaving many beautiful afghans and doilies. Her real love, though, was cooking and baking, where she really excelled. Her cookbooks are almost like history books with all her hand written notes. Her caramel rolls were legendary, and the family remembers well all the tremendous dishes that were offered. It seemed that a person couldn’t go to her house without being plied with goodies. Even as her health diminished, she insisted on making her grandchildren’s favorite dishes when they visited. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and enjoyed particiapating in all their events growing up. Lately she has loved spending time with her great-granddaughters and was so glad they lived close. Even as she went to the hospital, Kaci and Susan were making the cake decorations for her 90th birthday celebration which would have been on the 18th. She loved music and had a beautiful alto voice until she lost it after months of chemotherapy while battling cancer several years ago. She continued to enjoy listening as her children and grandchildren pursued their various musical talents. As important as her family and homemaking were, the most important thing in her life was her relationship with God and she lived her life in a way where she showed her faith to others by her quiet, gentle manner. Never one to like the spotlight, she always filled her post and did what was needed, but always in the background. Rubella is survived by her husband, Howard of Plentywood; two sons: Eugene (Susan) of rural Plentywood, and Wayne of Bellingham, WA. She also leaves four grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; also surviving is one brother, Arthur Harvikson (Lorraine), of West Vancouver, BC and three sisters-in-law, Agnes Hartvikson of West Fargo, ND, Eileen Harvikson, of Bismarck, ND and Elizabeth Braasch, of Minot, ND as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Helen and Adelaide; brothers, Hjalmar, Gordon and Donald; and sisters-in-law Sylvie Tefre and Norma Tefre.
