When she was a year old, her father died. Her uncle. Matt Syvertson came from Alaska to help run the farm. She enjoyed riding her horse, Prince, to school. She talked often about getting together with cousins, boarding in Glendive for high school - walking through Pioneer Park to go to the movies for 25 cents with Alice Buck. When she was 18, Ruby went with some friends to Philadelphia to work in a war plant. She attended Eastern Montana State Normal School in Billings to become a teacher. At her first school Fairview, she met her future husband, Andy Richert. He came to deliver coal to the school. On Oct. 15, 1944, she married Andy at the Emanuel Lutheran Church north of Intake. They built a home about a mile from her mother's home. They raised six children here and there were many happy times with family and friends. After the blizzard of '64-'65 they decided to pull up stakes and moved to big Timber. Ruby worked briefly at the Pioneer Rest Home and later taught at Dry Creek, Bridge, and Melville schools. She retired in 1962 to travel with Andy and enjoy her family and home. She was a devout Christian, avid reader, accomplished seamstress and spent long hours tending her gardens and flowerbeds. She belonged to the Evangelical Free Church, Trio Club, Retired Teachers and Wilitgro Garden Club. Ruby is survived by her children: Barbara Martin, Bruce (Louise) Richert, Marian Reidelbach, Steve (Sheryl) Richert, Debra Thomas, Teresa (Andy) Catsimanes, 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and special niece and nephew Eliane Swanson and Tom Hafele. She was preceded in death by husband Andy Richert, Grandson Chris Catsimanes, son-in-law Punk Reidelbach, sisters Alice Greiman and Doris Hafele, and brothers Lloyd and Grant Geiman.
