Ruby Arlene White was born Sept. 13, 1920, at Washta, the daughter of Thomas Charles and Marguerite (Diefenbach) White. She attended Grand Meadow School, graduating in 1937. Ruby then attended Business College in Sioux City for two years, and worked for four years in Washington DC in a Military Intelligence office. On Dec. 28, 1949, Ruby married Lyle Robert Whiting at the Methodist Church in Sioux City. She worked for the Moore Abstract Company in Cherokee and the Farmer's National Bank in Aurelia. Ruby was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, and the DAR in Cherokee, and she enjoyed doing genealogy and playing golf. Preceding Ruby in death were her parents; her husband Lyle on Jan. 9, 2006; an infant son; three sisters, Leona Sarber, Julia Patrick, and Beulah White; and four brothers, Ted, Raymond, Cecil, and Robert White. Survivors include one son, of Chicago; Ill., three grandchildren, one great-grandson, Trendell Preston Whiting, and one brother, Kenneth and his wife Bonnie White of Minnesota; several nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
