Description	:	Ruby Cordelia Larson was born Dec. 14, 1905 in Lake Preston, to Edwin and Martha (Brekhus) Larson. She graduated from Lake Preston High School and received her teaching certificate from Augustana College, Sioux Falls, in 1925. She then taught elementary school in Kingsbury County for four years and in Brookings County for two years. She worked for many years as a cashier for the Montgomery Ward Store. She graduated from Lake Preston High School and received her teaching certificate from Augustana College, Sioux Falls, in 1925. She then taught elementary school in Kingsbury County for four years and in Brookings County for two years. She worked for many years as a cashier for the Montgomery Ward Store. On March 15, 1934, she married Herby Oines in Brookings. They farmed in Sterling Township, Brookings County, until moving to Brookings in 1962. She was employed at Montgomery Ward for a couple of years and then was employed in the cashier's office at South Dakota State University until her retirement in 1978. Mr. Oines died May 4, 1978 at Brookings. Ruby Cordelia Oines, 82, died Friday, Mar 18, 1988, at the Brookview Manor, Brookings, SD. Funeral services were on Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Brookings, with the Rev. James Thvedt officiating. Burial was at the First Lutheran Cemetery. Survivors include one daughter, Janet Wiese, of Brookings; two sons, Robert Oines and his wife, Linda, of Brookings and Paul Oines and his wife Marilyn, of Westerville, Ohio; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Arthur Larson of Woodland, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, two sisters and two brothers.
