Description	:	Ruby E. Scheffler, 97, of Columbus died Aug. 16, 2018, at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus. A funeral service is being held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk with The Rev. Jim Parsley officiating the service. Ruby was born on March 9, 1921, to Fred and Melissa Reitz in Saskatchewan, Canada. Her family moved to Nebraska when she was 9 months old. She attended Madison County public schools and graduated from Madison High School in 1937. She attended Norfolk Business College for one year, after which she worked as a stenographer at the Madison County Assistance Office for several years. On March 12, 1944, Ruby, married Lowell Scheffler at the Methodist Church in Norfolk. To this union six children were born. She lived on a farm in Madison County for 55 years. In 2000, Ruby moved to Columbus. Ruby was a member of the Church of Christ in Columbus. Ruby is survived by a daughter, Shirley (Dave) Liebig of Platte Center and son Merrill of Norfolk; one sister, Rosalie Behlen of Columbus; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Lowell; her parents Fred and Melissa (Foutch); four sons Eugene, Morris, Darrell and Daniel; two sisters and two brothers.
