Read More	Ruby Edith Joy Nelson St. Pierre, 88, Concordia, died March 23, 2010, at Sunset Home, Concordia. She was born August 11, 1921, in Cloud County to Lawrence and Mabel Nelson. She graduated from Concordia High School in 1939. Ruby worked at Duckwall's before marrying Elmo St. Pierre, April 5, 1942, at Concordia. They were married for 59 years. He preceded her on June 15, 2001. She was a homemaker all her married life. Elmo and Ruby were recognized as the Kansas American Royal Farm Family of the Year and received the Balanced Farming and Family Living Award. Before retirement, they lived northeast of Concordia. She was a member of The Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was involved in many church activities. She was a leader for the Republican Valley 4-H club and a member of the Republican Valley E.H.U. Ruby was a full partner in the farming operation and a vital part of Elmo's salesmanship. Ruby was known for her heartwarming smile and awesome hugs. She never knew a stranger and always made each person feel important. Known for her cinnamon rolls, fried chicken and strawberry pie, Ruby always had room at the table for one more. Whether Sunday School children or her own grandchildren, they caught the spark of her love for Jesus and His love for them as well. Her competitive spirit cheered grandchildren at track meets and motivated her own daughter to place in the cherry pie baking contest. Ruby inspired others to always do their best. Ruby's hobbies of horses and sewing created priceless memories for many. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ann Palmquist and husband Kenneth; Joyce Coppoc and husband Jim, all of Concordia; and Sandy Sample and husband Roger of Garnett; two sisters, Elva Holman and husband Vernon of Eagan, Minnesota; and Dorothy St. Pierre of Concordia; one brother-in-law, Robert St. Pierre and wife Dolores of Clyde; two sisters-in-law, Eloise St. Pierre of Clyde; and Helen St. Pierre of Newnan, Georgia; six grandchildren, Lisa Sorell and husband Sean of Manhattan, Steven Palmquist and wife Nicole, and Scott Coppoc and wife DeeDee, all of Concordia; Trent Coppoc and wife Teri of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Joe Sample and wife Ashley of Baldwin City; Erin Washington and husband Maurice of Olathe; and nine great-grandchildren, Lane and Isaac Sorell of Manhattan; Jacob and Kyle Palmquist of Concordia; Aren and Jace Coppoc of Concordia; Morgan and Ryan Coppoc of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Henry Sample of Baldwin City; many nieces, nephews and friends. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, parents and twin sister Ruth Carlgren. The funeral will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 27, at The Baptist Church in Concordia with Rev. David Fabarez officiating assisted by Dr. Warren Freeborn and Rev. Jerry Catt. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the Elmo and Ruby St. Pierre Memorial Scholarship. Friends may call from 9 am – 9 pm, Thursday, March 25, and Friday, March 26. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm, Friday, at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, 325 W. 6th, Concordia.
