REED . Ruby E. Reed, 94, longtime Sunnyside resident, died Wed. July 6, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Sunnyside. . Ruby was born June 2, 1894, at Loop City, NB. At the age of two she, with her family, moved by covered wagon to Montana. They later made their home in the Northwest before moving to Sunnyside in 1911. On Dec. 17, 1911, she, Miss Ruby E. Dubry, and Allie C. Reed were married at Granger, and made their home in Sunnyside. Her husband passed away in 1952 and she continued to make her home in Sunnyside. She enjoyed needle work, crocheting, quilting and canning. . Ruby was a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, Royal Neighbors, Women of the Moose and the Jolly Club, all of Sunnyside. She was also a member of the Happy Time Band of Prosser and a member of the Untied Methodist Church. . Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Vern (Lynn) Hewitt of Prosser, Mrs. Stan (Edith) Freeman of Grandview, Madaline Brett of Richland and Mrs. Beech (Jean) Tilley of Flippin, AR; one son, Robert Reed, of Montlake Terrace, WA, 21 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Pearl Burch of Seattle, and Evelyn Venne of Sunnyside, also survive. She is preceded in death by one daughter, Jessie Basden, in 1951, and one son, Carson Reed, in 1979, four brothers and three sisters. . Services held Sat. July 9, in the Chapel of the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. . Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society.
