Description	:	Daughter of Samuel Walter & Viola (Creery) Ellis. She attended Big Cut Nance County School and St. Edward High School. During the 1920's Ruby worked in a milliner's shop in Genoa designing and making ladies hats. On October 18, 1924, Ruby married Joseph Pearson in Omaha. Together they farmed until the late 1930's when Joe's health started to fail, and they moved into Genoa in 1942. Joseph passed away on February 4, 1944. On June 1, 1945 Ruby married Orville Cumming in Genoa. Orville passed away on August 4, 1965. In 1949, Ruby opened her own flower shop, "For-Get-Me-Not" in Columbus... This shop was sold to Jim Ball who changed the name to "Columbus Florist". Ruby had been a member of the Methodist Church in Genoa and in 1945 became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbus. She was active in the "Keystone" and a life member of the United Methodist Women's circle. She enjoyed traveling with her family and crocheting doilies and afghans. She was a charter member of the "Sprigs and Sprouts" garden club. She received a Presidential letter of congratulations from President Clinton on her 100 birthday and one from President Bush on her 103 birthday.
