Description	:	Ruby was the daughter of Jesse Addison Green and Lenora "Nora" Amanda Cobb Green. She was born and raised in Union Parish, Louisiana. On 7 May 1921, Ruby Inez Green and Charles DeVant Cole were married in Litroe, Union Parish, Louisiana. This marriage was recorded in Book 20, page 140 of Union Parish, Louisana marriage records. Their second child died on the same day he was... Read More	Ruby was the daughter of Jesse Addison Green and Lenora "Nora" Amanda Cobb Green. She was born and raised in Union Parish, Louisiana. On 7 May 1921, Ruby Inez Green and Charles DeVant Cole were married in Litroe, Union Parish, Louisiana. This marriage was recorded in Book 20, page 140 of Union Parish, Louisana marriage records. Ruby and Charlie were the parents of eight children. The oldest child Inez drowned in the Ouachita River at Sterlington, Louisiana when she was six years old. Their second child died on the same day he was born. The other six children all reached adulthood. Four of their children are still living. Thirteen of Ruby and Charlie's fifteen grandchildren are still living. Ruby and Charlie retired to Marion, Union, Louisiana. They were members of Liberty Baptist Church. Ruby later became a member of First Baptist Church in Marion, Louisiana. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club and American Legion Auxiliary. Ruby was the 9th great granddaughter of Stephen Hopkins of the Maylfower. Stephen Hopkins was a signer of the Mayflower Compact. She was also from Stephen Hopkins' son Giles Hopkins, and Giles was a child on the Mayflower. In 1609 on his way to Jamestown, Virginia, Stephen Hopkins was on the Sea Venture when it was shipwrecked in Bermuda. In 1610, Stephen Hopkins arrived in Jamestown, Virginia. Four of Ruby's descendants are members of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, and a grandddaughter is a member of the Jamestowne Society. Fourteen of Ruby's ancestors are documented patriots in the American Revolution. These ancestors are Captain James Green (NC), George Bussey (SC), Zaddock Bussey (SC), Jesse Cook CT & VT), John Cole (NC), John Barron (GA) , William Barron (GA), Joseph Davenport (SC), Ann Hurst Floyd (VA), John Garrard (GA) John Hurst (VA), Josiah Norris (NC), James Patrick (SC) and Daniel Turner (NC). All are documented Daughters of the American Revolution soldiers and patriots. Three of Ruby's granddaughters are members of DAR and one great granddaughter. Written 25 October 2011 - Susan R.
