Description	:	Charlie was the son of Robert Richard Cole and Martha Ann Rebecca Smith Cole. He was born and raised in Huttig, Union, Arkansas. On 5 May 1921, Charles DeVant Cole and Ruby Inez Green were married by Reverend Dewey H. Rockett in Litroe, Union Parish, Louisiana. This marriage was recorded in Book 20, page 140 of Union Parish Marriage Records. In the early 1920's, Charlie worked for Union Saw Mill in Huttig, Arkansas. Read More	Charlie was the son of Robert Richard Cole and Martha Ann Rebecca Smith Cole. He was born and raised in Huttig, Union, Arkansas. On 5 May 1921, Charles DeVant Cole and Ruby Inez Green were married by Reverend Dewey H. Rockett in Litroe, Union Parish, Louisiana. This marriage was recorded in Book 20, page 140 of Union Parish Marriage Records. In the early 1920's, Charlie worked for Union Saw Mill in Huttig, Arkansas. He then worked at a Carbon Black Plant in Spencer, Union, Louisiana. In the 1930's, Charlie was a foreman at the Phillips Carbon Black Plant in Borger, Texas. During the 1940's, he was a pulp wood contractor. Charlie and Ruby later owned a 320 acre ranch a few miles outside of Huttig, Arkansas. Charlie and Ruby retired to Marion, Louisiana. They were members of Liberty Baptist Church. Charlie and Ruby had eight children. Inez, their oldest child, drowned in the Ouachita River at Sterlington, Louisiana when she was six years old. The second child died the same day he was born. The other six children all reached adulthood, and four are still living. Thirteen of their fifteen grandchildren are still living. Four of Charles' ancestors are documented Daughters of the American Revolution soldiers and patriots. These ancestors are 2nd Lt. Miles Gathright, Ensign Walter Poole, James Collins and Major Croom, Sr. Three of Charles' granddaughters and a great granddaughter are members of the DAR. Written on 25 October 2011 - Susan R.
