Description	:	Ruby Lechman, 83, of Chappell, Nebraska died Tuesday morning, May 29, 2007 at the Sedgwick County Nursing Home in Julesburg, Colorado. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 4, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church in Chappell with Pastors Philip Found and Gary Rahe officiating. Interment will follow in the Chappell Cemetery. Ruby Iva Lechman was born on the family farm northeast of Chappell, Nebraska on October 15, 1923, the daughter of Herman C. and Anna H. (Wellman) Stahr. She grew up on the farm and received her elementary education at District #17 and graduated from Deuel County High School in the Class of 1941. She continued her education at Kearney State College where she received her Teacher's degree. Ruby returned to Chappell and taught school south of Chappell at District #8 for three years. She then worked for the Sioux Ordinance Depot for a short time during the war, the Chappell Drug Store, and then for the Deuel County State Bank for over 20 years. On December 27, 1955 she was united in marriage to Joseph J. Lechman in Denver, Colorado. Ruby continued to work for the bank and later became the administrator for Miller Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home in Chappell. In the early 1970's Joe and Ruby started their own business, Lechman's Springcrest Draperies in Chappell which they operated until retiring due to her health in 2005. Ruby enjoyed sewing, drawing and painting and was a member of the Cheyenne County Art Guild. She made the draperies that are currently being used for the art shows today. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, serving as a past treasurer and was involved with the Ladies Aid. She served on the Board of Directors for the Deuel County Senior Center and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband Joe of Chappell; three sisters, Florence Nelson of St. Paul, Nebraska, Gladys Flores of Sterling, Colorado, and Mabel Kreider of Lodgepole, Nebraska; one brother, Floyd Stahr and his wife Catherine of Chappell; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Hilda Rahe, and her brother Lloyd Stahr
