Description	:	Funeral services for Ruby L. Kies, 78, of Lake View were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Carnarvon. The Rev. Perkins Patton officiated. Mrs. Kies passed away at Blackhawk Life Care Center in Lake View on Monday, May 29. Music was by organist Sue Mein and congregational singing. Pallbearers were Darrell Brinker, Vernon Kowalke, Mike Brinker, Steve Meyer, Herman Ninneman and Jim Stock. Kies was born October 17, 1921, in Carnarvon, the daughter of John and Tena Meyer Peters. She was baptized and confirmed at Carnarvon Immanuel Presbyterian Church. She attended country school and was graduated from Lake View High School. She also attended Buena Vista College and taught in country school near Lake View and Carnarvon. On October 9, 1942, she married Raymond W. Kies at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Carnarvon. They primaily lived in Sac County - Carnarvon, Nemaha and for many years in Early. Mrs. Kies was employed as a cook at Crestland Community School for many years and she also worked as a nurse aide at Methodist Manor in Storm Lake. She was also a homemaker, retiring in Lake View. She was a member of the Wall Lake Legion Auxiliary and of the Ladies Aide in both Early and Carnarvon Presbyterian churches. Her hobbies included cooking, caring for others, singing in the choir and doing solo work. Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Diana Kies of Denver, Colo., and Dennis and Diana Kies of Farmington, Minn; a daughter and son-in-law Debra and Randy Drey of Storm Lake; and 6 grandchildren: Trent Kies, Rochelle and Alan Kies, and Robin, Eric and Michelle Drey. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; 2 brothers, Donald and Ronald Peters; 2 sisters, Velma Fogerty and Shirley Peters; 4 half-brothers: Lawrence Brinker, Elmer Brinker, Marvin Brinker and Wilbert Peters; and 3 half-sisters: Berdena Karstens, Pearl Schott and Grace Peters.
